Assistant Maintenance Technician Position Summary The Assistant Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance team in ensuring the facility, equipment, and grounds are maintained in a safe, functional, and attractive condition. This position assists with routine repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and general upkeep while helping to maintain a safe, sober, and recovery-oriented environment for residents, staff, and visitors. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and hand tools. Ability to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to work respectfully and professionally with residents, staff, and visitors. Preferred Previous maintenance, construction, or property management experience. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. Experience working in a healthcare, behavioral health, residential, or recovery-focused environment. Additional Requirements Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Troubleshoot and repair appliances, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems, and mechanical components using schematics and technical manuals. Install new appliances and mechanical equipment following manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Conduct repairs on various mechanical systems including air conditioning units, refrigeration systems, and kitchen appliances to minimize downtime. Operate company vehicles safely for on-site maintenance tasks or equipment transport as needed. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to support operational efficiency. Collaborate with team members to lead maintenance projects and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Requirements Proven experience as a Service Technician or Maintenance Technician with a strong background in appliance repair, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, or mechanical systems repair. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately for troubleshooting and repairs. Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system repair, appliance installation, kitchen equipment maintenance, and equipment repair. Experience with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) practices across diverse mechanical systems. Construction experience or familiarity with building infrastructure is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff or clients. Valid driver's license with experience operating company vehicles safely. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
