UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Salary:
DOE/EOE West Jackson County Utility District is seeking a maintenance technician for water/sewer repairs. Drug/Background Screen/Physical Required. Apply online or fax resume to 228-872-3861. Mail to Human Resources PO Box 1230, Ocean Springs, MS 39566-1230. No phone calls please.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED
: In conjunction with other WJCUD personnel, training will be provided on activities of both preventative and correcting natures as it relates to maintenance and repairs of WJCUD public water and sewage system. Periodic on-call emergency duty rotation required. Mechanical aptitude a must. General knowledge of pipe installation, connection and repair preferred but will train the right applicant. The Maintenance Tech must maintain confidentiality, behave in a professional manner and maintain a good working relationship with the Commissioners, Managers, and other employees. The Maintenance Tech will perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Vocational/technical schools and or water/wastewater training highly desirable. Work experience in water line installation and repair, meter reading, meter installation, sewer, fire hydrant repair and replacement a plus.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE
(But are not limited to): Must possess mechanical aptitude. Must be physically capable of lifting 100 lbs. and carrying medium loads. Must have normal color vision. Must receive Hepatitis vaccinations. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to service equipment. Must be able to work at heights or in tight quarters. Must be able to work in wastewater environment. Must be knowledgeable in troubleshooting, maintenance, and safety practices. Must be neat and clean in appearance. Must be able to interact with customers and present a positive image. Must have good driving record and be insurable on WJCUD's auto insurance policy. Must be able to work in hot and cold weather conditions. Must be able to work after hours as needed. Must have ability to be bondable.
