Job Purpose The Blow Mold Process Control Technician - Level I is responsible for supporting daily production through execution of fundamental blow molding process control activities. This role ensures machines are operating within defined parameters, product quality standards are maintained, and basic process adjustments are performed to sustain efficient and stable production. This position focuses on developing foundational process control skills, equipment operation knowledge, and adherence to standardized work practices within an automotive manufacturing environment. Qualifications, Education, and Experience Necessary and desirable qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following: High school diploma or equivalent required 0-3 year of manufacturing experience (plastics or blow molding preferred) Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to follow standardized work instructions and process documentation Strong attention to detail and quality standards Willingness to learn blow molding processes and equipment Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Basic computer and data recording skills Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production Process Execution Operate and support direct labor processes including deflashing, assembly, and material handling Assist with machine start-up and shutdown procedures Perform extruder purging and support head run-up activities Support operation of energy systems (air, hydraulic, electrical) Perform mold flushes and manage water shutoffs Apply mold saver spray during extended downtime Material Management Operate and maintain material handling systems including mixers, hoppers, and granulators Ensure proper material loading, blending, and handling practices Perform filter cleaning and material system housekeeping Fundamental Process Control Make basic process adjustments including: Part mass adjustments Shot size adjustments Extruder speed adjustments Material mix adjustments Monitor and record key production metrics: Hourly mass per cavity Cycle time per work center Identify and escalate process deviations or quality concerns Machine & Equipment Care Perform routine cleaning of machines and equipment Maintain adherence to 6S and workplace organization standards Ensure work areas remain clean, safe, and audit-ready Quality & Documentation Follow all work instructions, control plans, and process documentation Accurately record production and process data Support traceability and compliance with quality standards Assist in identifying and containing non-conforming product Team Collaboration Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams Communicate process issues, downtime, and abnormalities Support continuous improvement efforts and standardization Other Duties Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the position as assigned Work Conditions Fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment Exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery Combination of production floor and equipment interaction Required use of PPE (Safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, etc.) Physical Requirements Ability to walk the manufacturing floor for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift items up to 35 lbs.
