Job Description

Area Maintenance/Grounds Technician - 62

Non-Exempt Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent Considerable experience in one or more of the trades common to building maintenance Valid North Carolina driver's license Maintain a school electrical license Ability to read and understand written orders and labeling Ability to work with ladders and heights over 8' in a safe manner Ability to work in tight or confined spaces in a safe manner Must either possess or obtain State Pesticide License for all disciplines within six months of employment, and all licenses must be continuously maintained Must have general knowledge of computer applications
Essential Job Functions:
Provides maintenance support to the assigned school in the absence of the Area Maintenance Technician Replaces light bulbs and ballasts, receptacles, and switches as needed Changes filters on HVAC systems on routine schedule as needed Helps assist Area Maintenance Technicians if needed Checks and cleans off roofs and gutters as needed Installs bulletin boards, dry erase boards, etc. as needed Maintains bathroom fixtures and plumbing as needed Performs light carpentry and electrical repairs as needed Repairs desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment as necessary Replaces glass in windows and doors as needed Performs minor repairs to school equipment as needed Performs repairs to roofs, gutters and drains as needed Performs small repairs to drywall as needed Replaces floor and ceiling tiles as needed Checks and replaces belts on equipment as needed Oils and greases pumps and motors as needed Responds to after hour emergencies as requested Performs related tasks as required Maintains active certifications and improves knowledge by attendance at workshops Maintains herbicide records of when and where pesticides are applied Maintains correct labeling on all herbicide containers Communicates with staff and school administrators to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ensures that all herbicides used on school district properties are in compliance with school district policies Keeps current herbicide labels and material safety data sheets Informs administrators of pre-notification and posting requirements as it applies to herbicide application Assists in all pest management in and around campuses as needed Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Moore County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
