Job Description

The purpose of this position is to oversee the upkeep of City buildings, structures. This is primarily accomplished by making repairs, obtaining materials and parts, and pricing equipment to be used for maintenance.

Please Note :

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a fingerprint screening. If the incumbent fails to obtain clearance through the fingerprint screening, they will not be able to access all necessary City buildings and therefore, may be subject to termination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Travels and maintains and repairs City facilities. Performs basic carpentry, building and plumbing repairs. Inventories and purchases material needed for projects. Performs regular maintenance and servicing of shop and hand tool equipment. Maintains reports and daily logs of work progress. Rotational on-call responsibilities.

Supplemental Functions :

Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications :
Knowledge :

▪ Carpentry principles and practices

▪ Plumbing principles and practices

▪ Electrical principles and practices

▪ Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations

Licensing and Certifications :

Valid North Carolina Driver's License.

Physical Requirements :

Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.

Medium Work:

Exerting 20 - 50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.
