EXPERIENCED SIGN INSTALLERS / TECHNICIANS
to join our team. This is a full-time position performing installations and managing a crew. The Lead Sign Installer is responsible for all aspects of installation of signage and graphics, using the proper tools, equipment, and techniques to install signage and graphics. The Lead Installer is responsible for maintaining in good working order all equipment, tools, and work vehicles provided, keeping job sites and workspaces clean and safe. The ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, hard-working, detail-oriented, enjoys working with their hands, is highly experienced in construction and working with a wide range of hand and power tools and manufacturing/power equipment, a self-motivated team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and who is determined to make every project their absolute best. General Summary The Sign Installer Crew Lead is responsible for leading and participating in the installation of commercial signs, graphics, and related systems while supervising an installation crew to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company quality standards. This position coordinates job site activities, directs crew members, operates installation equipment, and serves as the primary point of contact on-site to ensure successful project execution. The Sign Installer Crew Lead is expected to lead by example through professionalism, craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety. This position requires advanced installation knowledge, strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Core Functions Installation Leadership Lead installation crews in the safe and efficient installation of illuminated and non-illuminated signs, graphics, and related products. Assign daily responsibilities and provide direction to installation team members throughout each project. Ensure installations are completed according to project specifications, engineering drawings, customer requirements, and company quality standards. Review job requirements before installation and coordinate materials, equipment, and manpower to ensure project success. Verify completed installations meet company workmanship standards before project completion. Job Site Management Prepare job sites by removing existing signage, preparing mounting surfaces, and organizing installation materials. Conduct and participate in required job site safety meetings. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout each project. Ensure all crew members follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and proper fall protection procedures. Clean and restore job sites following installation completion. Communicate project progress, delays, and field issues to project management. Equipment & Vehicle Management Safely operate company vehicles, cranes, bucket trucks, aerial lifts, forklifts, and other installation equipment as authorized. Load, secure, transport, and unload signage, tools, and materials. Maintain all company vehicles, tools, equipment, and machinery in safe, clean, and proper working condition. Report equipment maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly. Technical Installation Install illuminated and non-illuminated signs using proper installation methods and techniques. Read and interpret shop drawings, installation plans, blueprints, and specifications. Perform basic electrical connections and troubleshooting in accordance with applicable electrical codes. Utilize circuit testers, meters, drills, saws, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively. Verify sign alignment, structural integrity, and electrical operation upon installation completion. Team Leadership & Communication Mentor, train, and develop Sign Installer Helpers and other crew members. Establish positive working relationships with internal departments, customers, contractors, and inspectors. Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the installation team. Ensure all company policies, procedures, and business ethics standards are followed. Represent the company professionally at all customer and job site locations. Essential Duties Lead commercial sign installation crews on projects of varying size and complexity. Install illuminated and non-illuminated signs and graphics. Coordinate daily installation activities and crew assignments. Load, transport, and secure signs and installation materials. Operate cranes, bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and other installation equipment as qualified. Read blueprints, layouts, and installation drawings. Perform basic electrical wiring and testing for sign installations. Conduct job site safety meetings and enforce safe work practices. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment. Travel to customer locations, including occasional overnight travel. Work evenings, weekends, overtime, and flexible schedules as project demands require. Complete installation documentation and communicate project updates to management. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and crew management skills. Extensive knowledge of commercial sign installation methods and industry best practices. Ability to accurately read measuring tapes, blueprints, and installation drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and construction knowledge. Working knowledge of basic electrical systems and electrical code requirements. Proficiency using circuit testers, electrical meters, hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines. Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Education & Experience Required High school diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial sign installation, sign production, construction, or a related field. Demonstrated leadership experience supervising installation crews or field personnel. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass private-sector and government background checks and gain access to military installations, government facilities, and school campuses. Experience installing illuminated and non-illuminated commercial signs. Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment. Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel. Willingness to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed. Preferred Commercial Driver's License (CDL). DOT experience. Crane certification. Experience operating bucket trucks, cranes, aerial lifts, and forklifts. Working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. OSHA safety certification or other applicable construction safety training. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work from aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and elevated platforms. Ability to safely work at heights exceeding 75 feet while utilizing proper fall protection equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Ability to safely operate cranes, lifts, hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to safety and quality.
