As a seasoned technician with 4+ years in the trade, you'll take the lead on complex installs, repairs, and maintenance across diverse sites—keeping doors, docks, and hardware operating safely and efficiently. A day in the field You'll roll out in a company-provided vehicle to a curated mix of service calls. One visit might have you troubleshooting a faulty closer and low-voltage access control; the next, replacing springs, hinges, and locks, verifying code compliance, and walking customers through options. If you're eager to add welding to your toolkit, we'll train you. What you'll handle Install, diagnose, and repair commercial and industrial door systems, docks, and related hardware using the right tools and methods. Resolve issues involving springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components; configure locks, handles, closers, low-voltage, and access control. Confirm work meets building codes and safety standards; perform quality checks aligned with our uncompromising quality benchmarks. Document service visits, repairs, and installs with accurate records and reports. Advise customers with clear communication and cost-conscious recommendations. What you bring High school diploma or equivalent; 4+ years of commercial door service experience. AAADM certification is a plus. Broad knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware; strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders up to 20', work on your knees for extended periods, and operate hand/power tools safely. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; persuasive when needed and effective in fast-paced environments. Sharp troubleshooting, math skills (including fractions), and precise tape‑measure accuracy. Reliability, self-motivation, and diligent adherence to safety regulations and protocols; basic computer proficiency. Work conditions Full-time schedule available between 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday; some overtime and on‑call work required. Ongoing training as you continue to grow with Vortex. Fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Ability to drive a company vehicle; valid driver license required. Must pass Drug test, Background check and Motor Vehicle check Training and growth Industry-best instruction in our state-of-the-art training facility: commercial and retail door openings, hardware, storefront glazing, and automatic doors. Multiple levels of advancement with clear paths to excel. Continued learning on manual doors and dock equipment for industrial openings, plus options for industry certifications.
