Non-Exempt Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED or higher Considerable experience in one or more of the trades common to building maintenance Valid North Carolina Driver's License NC CDL Driving License a plus
Supervises:
None Essential Job Functions:
Provides maintenance support to the assigned school(s) by work orders from the principal or maintenance office Replaces light bulbs and ballasts Changes filters on HVAC systems on routine schedule Checks fire extinguishers on weekly basis Checks and cleans off roofs and gutters Installs bulletin boards, dry erase boards, etc. Maintains bathroom fixtures and plumbing Performs light carpentry and electrical repairs Repairs desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment as necessary Replaces glass in windows and doors as needed Performs minor repairs to school equipment Performs repairs to roofs, gutters and drains Performs small repairs to drywall Replaces floor and ceiling tiles Oils and greases pumps and motors as needed Installs asphalt patches Responds to after hour emergencies as requested Provides assistance to paint crew and carpentry crew during summer months Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the General Maintenance job classification within the Maintenance Department of Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditions Use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts Use a variety of measuring devices Assemble or fabricate parts at or within arm's length Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools and job specific equipment and tools Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work Observe general surroundings and activities Hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels Use communication by means of spoken word to express or exchange ideas Safely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment
