Job Description

Lead Technician / Handyman -
Wilmington, NC Position:
Lead Technician / Handyman /
Home Repair Employment:
Full-time, permanent
Pay:
$25-$35/hour , depending on experience
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM-4:30/5:00 PM . Weekends are generally not required except when absolutely necessary to complete a job.
Service Area:
Primarily New Hanover County , with work throughout Brunswick and Pender Counties . Occasional work in Columbus County and surrounding areas. Approximately 80% of work is in the Wilmington/New Hanover area .

Position Overview The company is looking for a versatile lead technician/handyman who has a solid foundation in residential construction, maintenance, and home repair. The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every trade—the client recognizes that finding someone who can do everything is difficult and is willing to train the right person . Minimum Experience Approximately 5 years of relevant experience No specific license or certification required Basic carpentry skills are the primary requirement Core Skills The candidate should ideally have experience with several of the following: Basic carpentry Drywall repair/installation Painting Basic plumbing Basic electrical knowledge Cabinet installation/replacement LVP flooring Doors and trim General home maintenance and repairs Residential construction Additional experience is preferred but not mandatory with: Deck construction and repair Fencing Siding repair Soffit/fascia repair Exterior wood/rot repairs Door repairs The company handles specialty plumbing and electrical work through licensed plumbers and electricians , so the technician is not expected to perform work requiring those licenses. Aging-in-Place / Senior Home Modifications A significant part of the work involves aging-in-place and accessibility modifications . The owner is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) .
Projects may include:
Grab-bar installation Wheelchair ramps Door widening Bathroom accessibility conversions Curbless/roll-in showers Wheelchair-accessible bathroom remodeling Other mobility/accessibility modifications throughout the home Vehicle & Tools Company vehicle is not currently available ; candidate should have reliable transportation initially. Client may add another company vehicle in the future. Candidate should have basic hand/carpentry tools . Specialty tools will be provided, rented, or purchased by the company as needed. Ideal Candidate A versatile, dependable residential construction/handyman professional who can confidently handle a variety of home repairs, has good basic carpentry skills, and is comfortable learning new tasks. Having some experience across multiple trades is a major plus, but the client is willing to train someone with the right foundation.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
