The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting in repairing, overhauling, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and/or packaging equipment and facility upgrades as required. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, diagnosing equipment malfunctions, repairing equipment, and following preventive maintenance measures to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspecting, lubricating, and cleaning machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and building maintenance issues and perform repairs as needed Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production Conduct preventive maintenance activities to identify and address potential issues before they escalate Monitor equipment performance and conduct regular inspections to identify signs of wear and tear or other abnormalities Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory levels Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure seamless operations. Comply with safety regulations and protocols Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems as needed Stay up to date on industry developments, best practices in maintenance techniques, and technologies Coordinate with contracted maintenance personnel for outside maintenance or project needs Diagnose and prioritize problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust as required to return machinery to service Repair and upgrade facilities as required Use of various hand and power tools Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance-related fields preferred 5-7 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Strong technical skills with proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing equipment Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail. Able to comprehend and follow instructions and perform tasks as required. Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to operate, troubleshoot, and install technology equipment and systems.
