Lutheran Social Services is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to support the upkeep and safety of our campus and properties. Position Summary Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic I performs general maintenance, repair, and project work related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and structural systems across the Lutheran campus. What You ll Do Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and building systems Maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems Complete general repairs (fixtures, surfaces, minor roof repairs, painting, glass installation) Install and repair locks, keys, and hardware Assist with snow removal and groundskeeping Support campus events (setup/teardown of tables, chairs, etc.) Respond to maintenance emergencies across campus Maintain accurate records using maintenance systems Assist with trash removal, linen transport, and general facility support Work with and learn from senior maintenance staff to build skills What We re Looking For High school diploma or equivalent (or 5+ years of relevant experience) required At least 2 years of experience in a related trade preferred Trade school or vocational training a plus Valid NYS driver s license with a clean driving record Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) Willingness to learn, grow, and take on new maintenance skills Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Regular standing, lifting (up to 100 lbs), climbing, and bending Use of hand and power tools, equipment, and safety gear Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Why Join Lutheran?
