Job Description
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician I to join our facilities and manufacturing team at Bluefors in Syracuse, NY. In this entry-level role, you will help maintain production equipment, support preventative maintenance activities, and contribute to keeping our manufacturing environment safe, clean, and operating efficiently. Interested? Keep reading! Your tasks will include supporting the Maintenance team with production needs, preventative maintenance, facilities support, and special projects. You will perform hands-on tasks such as filling liquid nitrogen transfer dewars and flasks, cleaning vacuum pump traps, removing ice from nitrogen flasks, cleaning and servicing CNC coolant tanks, changing HVAC and air filters, maintaining CNC mist collectors, and assisting with cooling tower and A/C coil cleanings. You will also perform process cooling water filter changes, maintain maintenance records, monitor inventory, and coordinate planned maintenance activities with production managers to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations. Maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas will be an important part of the role. We are looking for a candidate with a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of maintenance experience. Manufacturing experience is a plus, and strong mechanical aptitude is highly preferred. You should be comfortable reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and training documents. The ideal candidate will have technical and mechanical abilities, strong communication skills, initiative, and a results-driven approach to completing work. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to machinery and manufacturing environments is a plus. We also appreciate candidates who are dependable, proactive, and willing to learn. Experience supporting preventative maintenance programs, working around manufacturing equipment, or performing basic mechanical and facilities maintenance will help you stand out.
