Typical duties include but are not limited to the following: Assist Maintenance Mechanic of higher classification in the servicing, repair, and maintenance of machinery and/or equipment such as electric motors, pumps, meters, compressors and chain saws Perform unskilled and semiskilled work when assisting higher level maintenance mechanics; performs rough work and some finish work in the craft areas involved; cleans work area after completion of the job Assists higher level maintenance mechanics in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer service lines. Meter pits, water meters, curb stops, water and sewer mains, water supply lines, values, etc… Performs a variety of maintenance work in subsidized housing property/units: Clear stopped drains or toilets Change electrical switches, repair door locks, replace floor and wall tiles, remove and install carpets, repair HVAC, shovel/plow/remove snow and ice, apply ice melt products, empty garbage, minor trimming of trees, pressure washing, replace used appurtenances, install appliances, assist in the repair and replacement of window panes, door frames, shelves and cabinets Perform carpentry, repairs (including gutter work, roofing, hanging doors, installing ceramic tile, Formica countertops, replace and install windows, sheetrock repair and related) Perform electrical work (including replacement of light switches, fixtures, electrical outlets, repair electrical cords, switches and plugs on equipment and related) Perform plumbing work ( including unclogging drains and toilets, installing and replacing flexible screw on hoses, faucets, sinks, toilets, tubs, and related exiting systems) Painting, spackling and plastering Perform minor yard maintenance including water lines, lawns, shrubs, and trees. Plants and minor trimming trees and shrubs in emergency situations Operate a pickup truck for transportation and snow removal Operate buffing machine and other automatic cleaning equipment Responsible for occasional purchasing of paint, fixtures, and assorted building materials Responsible for moving furniture Loading and unloading freight Performs other duties as assigned (note: the HA director or designee may from time to time assign any of these items to qualified contractor on an as needed basis) Set up ladders, scaffolding, barricades, sheeting, shoring and bracing as directed Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications - either:

(a) Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas; or, (b) Two (2) years of experience in minor maintenance or repair work; or, (c) AA equivalent combination of education, or training, and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b); or, (d) One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic I.
