Job Description
Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., is a congregation of Catholic religious sisters who have served as missionaries since 1912, when we became the first group of Catholic sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission. Position Summary Over Night 12 - 8 AM Monday - Friday The Watch Engineer/Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for maintaining boiler room operations and ensuring proper functioning of equipment. This position provides emergency response, including fire response, to building issues. Position includes security tours for safety of staff, residents and buildings. During winter months inclement weather duties are required such a plowing, snow blowing and shoveling. Other duties include building maintenance and repair projects. A varied background in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting is desired. This position works alone or with Physical Plant associates based on the duties required. This is an Essential position which requires those in this position to be at work during inclement weather and for other emergency situations as requested by the Supervisor. Skills Abilities and Job Responsibilities Required Ability to work in a safe and knowledgeable manner. Must read, write and communicate in English in order to process work orders, requests and handle emergency situations. Must have valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Ability to diagnoses electrical problems; installs, repairs, replaces and maintains electrical equipment, appliances, motors, wires, switches, sockets, plugs, etc. Knowledge and skills required to inspect plumbing systems ; cleans, clears, or repairs as needed plumbing pipes, fixtures, fittings, equipment, etc. Ability to complete preventive maintenance requests and reports according to procedures. As assigned, prepares surfaces and performs necessary painting; utilizes carpentry skills for constructing cabinets, storage units, partitions, display racks, shelves, etc.; repairs door locks, screens, windows, Venetian blinds; installs and removes air conditioners Required Work Experience Two years' experience with HVAC, boilers and building repairs. Must have prior work experience in more than one building repair trades. Education High School diploma. Trade school helpful.
