The Opportunity & Impact This position is open due to recent workforce retirements and internal transitions, offering a rare opening to join a high-performing mechanical team. As a 100% mechanically focused Maintenance Technician, you will play a direct role in keeping continuous, high-speed converting production lines running at peak efficiency. You won't need to bring your own tools—the company supplies 100% of all required shop tools and equipment. With an exceptional top-tier hourly wage ($38.10/hr for off-shifts), minimal overtime demands (capped at a maximum of one Saturday per month), and zero Sunday work, this role provides the rare balance of elite industry compensation and exceptional quality of life. Key Responsibilities Execute mechanical troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and preventative maintenance (PM) across continuous converting machinery, high-speed production lines, and conveyor systems. Routinely inspect, rebuild, and replace core mechanical components including heavy-duty bearings, rollers, drive shafts, belts, and gearing assemblies. Perform precision equipment fabrication and machining using shop lathes, mills, and welding equipment to repair or adapt operational components. Conduct daily line walk-throughs with equipment operators to audit machine health, identify wear trends, and prevent unscheduled downtime. Lead pre-staging for scheduled maintenance days by organizing parts, managing job distribution, and verifying completed line repairs prior to production handoffs. Drive continuous improvement by collaborating with TPM and Kaizen teams to optimize machine reliability and update visual PM task packages. Maintain strict adherence to plant safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, while keeping precise records of utilized parts and inventory. Qualifications & Requirements 3+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience within a high-speed manufacturing or continuous converting production environment. Completion of a 1-to-2-year technical degree or trade certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience). Strong diagnostic capabilities in mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, drive mechanics, and heavy rotary equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in basic metal fabrication, machining (lathe and mill operations), and shop metallurgy/welding techniques. Thorough working knowledge of industrial safety procedures, with primary emphasis on Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance and PPE practices. Proven track record of dependable attendance, proactive problem-solving, and strong communication skills when partnering with line operators and engineering leadership. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs periodically, and comfortably work in a dynamic, non-climate-controlled plant environment.
