This position will be responsible for completing routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep at several Superior Behavioral Health locations in the Garfield Heights and Akron areas .The ideal candidate is someone who is reliable, self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable using basic hand and power tools. This person should be willing to travel between locations and respond to maintenance needs when necessary. Schedule Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for emergency maintenance needs. On-call availability is required. Travel between Superior Behavioral Health locations in the Garfield Heights and Akron areas is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and minor repairs at residential and office locations. Troubleshoot basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating/cooling, and building maintenance issues. Repair or replace minor plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, door hardware, light fixtures, outlets, and other basic items as appropriate. Recognize when a repair, maintenance issue, or project is outside the employee's scope of practice, skill level, or capabilities, and arrange for an appropriately qualified outside vendor or contractor to perform the work. Coordinate and supervise the outside vendor's work through completion to ensure the job is completed properly, safely, and in accordance with Superior Behavioral Health requirements. Perform basic carpentry, drywall repair, patching, caulking, painting, and touch-up work. Assemble furniture and equipment as needed. Change light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, air filters, and other routine maintenance items. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential problems before they become major repairs. Assist with maintaining safe, clean, and functional buildings and grounds. Move furniture, supplies, equipment, and other items as needed. Respond to maintenance requests from staff and management in a timely manner. Maintain basic records of repairs and maintenance completed. Travel between Superior Behavioral Health locations as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all applicable safety procedures. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working in residential and behavioral health settings. Provide on-call maintenance assistance when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, handyman, or building maintenance experience preferred. Must have basic knowledge of general home/building repairs. Must be comfortable using basic hand and power tools. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel between Garfield Heights and Akron locations. Must be able to work independently and prioritize maintenance requests. Must be dependable and responsive to urgent maintenance needs. Experience working in residential facilities, healthcare, behavioral health, apartments, or similar environments is a plus. Tools & Equipment The candidate should have basic personal hand tools necessary to perform routine maintenance work, such as: Screwdrivers Pliers Adjustable wrenches Hammer Tape measure Utility knife Drill/driver Basic socket and wrench set Other commonly used maintenance tools Superior Behavioral Health will provide or make available specialized equipment and supplies as needed. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and reach. Use hand and power tools safely. Lift and carry supplies and equipment. Move furniture and other items as needed. Lift up to approximately 50 pounds as needed. Work indoors and outdoors when necessary. Work in residential and office environments. Work Environment The Maintenance Technician will work at multiple Superior Behavioral Health locations, including residential homes and office/clinical settings in the Garfield Heights and Akron areas .The position may involve working in occupied residential facilities and interacting with staff and residents. The employee is expected to maintain a professional, respectful, and safety-conscious approach at all times.
