Job Description

Position Title:
Maintenance Technician Reports To:

Non-Exempt Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs to maintain hotel guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and facilities in safe and proper working condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspect hotel facilities and equipment for maintenance and repair needs. Perform routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules. Complete basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and general building repairs within authorized skill level. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and employees. Perform minor repairs in guest rooms and public areas. Inspect equipment and systems to identify malfunctions or safety concerns. Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies. Document completed repairs and preventive maintenance activities. Coordinate significant repair needs with management and outside contractors. Assist with maintaining hotel grounds and exterior areas as needed. Follow established workplace and equipment safety procedures. Maintain clean and organized maintenance work areas. All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general building maintenance and repair practices. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry systems. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize maintenance requests. Effective communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Required Experience and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous building, hotel, apartment, facility, or general maintenance experience preferred. Applicable maintenance certifications or technical training preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and stairs. Ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform physical work indoors and outdoors.
Working Conditions:
Hotel guest rooms, mechanical areas, public areas, grounds, and maintenance spaces. May involve exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, cleaning products and involve exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and temperature variations. Evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call emergency response hours may be required.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
