Getaway Cabins Maintenance Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated cabin Maintenance Worker to ensure our vacation rental cabins remain safe, clean, functional, and guest-ready year-round. This hands-on role involves daily upkeep of cabins and grounds, maintenance of spa and hot tub equipment, troubleshooting household systems, and winter-specific tasks. The ideal candidate thrives with high autonomy, enjoys problem-solving, and can work flexible hours in a scenic rural setting. This position reports to the property manager but operates largely independently.
Schedule Full-time:
Approximately 6.5 hours per day (11:00 AM - 5:30 PM) Sunday through Friday (off on Saturdays) Schedule flexibility required, especially during peak seasons, holidays, and winter weather events for emergency response or snow/ice removal. Key Responsibilities Daily Cabin Upkeep & Turnovers Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and minor repairs to ensure cabins are guest-ready, including bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, and bedrooms. Replenish supplies and report any damages or needed replacements. Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify and address maintenance issues promptly. Grounds Maintenance Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing lawns, trimming edges, weeding, mulching, raking leaves, and general landscaping. Remove trash and debris from cabin sites and common areas to keep the property neat and inviting. Spa & Hot Tub Equipment Perform regular cleaning, chemical balancing, filter maintenance, and minor repairs on hot tubs and spa equipment. Ensure all water features operate safely and efficiently for guest enjoyment. Systems Troubleshooting & Repairs Diagnose and resolve common household issues involving HVAC systems, electrical (e.g., outlets, lighting, wiring), plumbing, appliances, and other systems. Use current diagnostic technology and tools (multimeters, gauges, thermal imagers, or app-based HVAC diagnostics) to identify problems efficiently and determine if professional contractors are needed. Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and guest disruptions. Wintertime Maintenance Snow and ice removal, including plowing driveways, walkways, and cabin access areas using appropriate equipment. Winterize systems as needed (e.g., protecting pipes, hot tubs, and HVAC from freezing). Respond to weather-related emergencies to ensure safe access and operations. General Duties Work autonomously with minimal daily supervision while maintaining clear communication with the property manager via phone, text, or maintenance logs. Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely. Adhere to all safety protocols, local codes, and company standards. Document completed work, issues found, and supplies used. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience in general maintenance, groundskeeping, or handyman work (cabin/resort or rental property experience preferred). Working knowledge of HVAC, basic electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair. Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and technology for troubleshooting systems. Ability to operate grounds equipment (mower, trimmer, snowplow/tractor, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working independently. Physical fitness to handle lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Flexible availability, including potential adjustments for winter storms or high-occupancy periods. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC basics, pool/spa maintenance) a plus but not required.
