The Plumbing Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled plumbing, freshwater system, and general maintenance work across company facilities, equipment, and field operations. This hands-on role diagnoses problems, completes repairs and installations, and helps ensure systems and equipment remain safe, reliable, and ready for operation. This position requires a strong plumbing background and the ability to independently troubleshoot water lines, pumps, valves, fittings, tanks, fixtures, drains, and related systems. The technician also supports broader preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, facility upkeep, and maintenance projects as needed. This role is critical to maintaining dependable equipment and systems, reducing downtime, and supporting safe, efficient operations and quality service. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Plumbing & Freshwater Systems Install, repair, and maintain freshwater systems, water lines, piping, fixtures, fittings, valves, pumps, tanks, drains, and related components Diagnose leaks, pressure issues, flow problems, pump failures, blockages, and other plumbing or water-system issues Complete plumbing installations and modifications for facilities, trailers, equipment, and operational needs Inspect plumbing and freshwater systems to identify needed repairs, replacement parts, or preventive work Complete repairs using sound plumbing practices and ensure finished work is safe, functional, and professional Test completed plumbing and freshwater work to verify proper flow, pressure, drainage, and system operation Maintenance & Repair Perform preventative maintenance and general repair work on company equipment, facilities, and operating assets Diagnose mechanical and maintenance issues and complete repairs efficiently Perform basic electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and facility repairs within the technician's skill level Repair and maintain portable toilet units, freshwater equipment, and other company assets as needed Respond to maintenance requests promptly and prioritize work based on safety, operational impact, and urgency Support maintenance projects and equipment improvements across company locations as assigned Equipment, Parts, and Work Area Readiness Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies needed to complete plumbing and maintenance work Identify repair parts and materials needed and communicate purchasing or inventory needs promptly Keep shop, maintenance, staging, and work areas clean, organized, and safe Protect company tools and equipment and ensure they are used and stored properly Communicate equipment condition, recurring failures, and significant repair needs to management Safety & Quality Control Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies, PPE requirements, SOPs, and applicable regulations Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, plumbing equipment, and maintenance equipment safely and correctly Inspect completed repairs and installations to confirm quality, proper operation, and leak-free performance Identify unsafe conditions or equipment and communicate concerns immediately Maintain clean work practices and properly handle materials, chemicals, waste, and replacement components Troubleshooting & Operational Support Respond to plumbing, freshwater, equipment, and facility issues that could affect daily operations or customer service Troubleshoot problems to determine root cause rather than relying only on temporary repairs Work directly with Operations and Maintenance leadership to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime Support field and yard teams with technical maintenance needs, installations, and special projects Training & Documentation Complete required maintenance, inspection, repair, and parts documentation accurately and timely Communicate completed work, outstanding issues, and follow-up needs to management Follow manufacturer recommendations, company standards, and established maintenance procedures Share plumbing and maintenance knowledge with team members when appropriate to improve safe equipment use and basic troubleshooting Planning & Preventative Maintenance Complete assigned preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled repair work Identify recurring failures and recommend practical repairs or improvements that increase reliability Plan work to ensure required parts, tools, and materials are available before beginning repairs or installations Help maintain accurate parts and maintenance inventories and reduce unnecessary waste or repeat repairs Coordinate larger or specialized repairs with outside vendors when directed by management On-Call & Emergency Support Participate in after-hours or emergency maintenance support as needed based on business requirements Step into urgent plumbing or maintenance work when needed to keep equipment, facilities, and operations functioning Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; vocational, trade-school, or plumbing-related training preferred Strong hands-on plumbing experience required, including troubleshooting and repair of water lines, pumps, valves, fittings, fixtures, drains, tanks, or similar systems Previous maintenance, facilities, mechanical, plumbing service, or related skilled-trade experience required Valid driver's license; ability to travel between company locations and work hands-on in field, shop, facility, and outdoor environments Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Strong practical knowledge of plumbing systems, freshwater systems, piping, pumps, valves, fittings, fixtures, drains, and related components Ability to independently diagnose plumbing and maintenance problems and determine safe, effective repair solutions Working knowledge of general mechanical, electrical, facility, and equipment maintenance Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, plumbing tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance equipment Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently Work Environment and Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods Diverse work environment such as: office, warehouse, vehicle/property maintenance shop, yard, customer site, and field locations Ability to work in environments frequently exposed to weather, noise, chemicals, water, dirt, and waste Ability to travel between assigned company locations and job sites as business needs require
