GENERAL OVERVIEW

Handles all mechanical repairs throughout the hospital, including electrical and plumbing.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs equipment and materials fabrication including miscellaneous installations and repairs (including repairs to wheelchairs and beds); updates and repairs hospital plumbing systems, electrical repairs, light carpentry and other trades. (65%) Responds to service and emergency calls regarding any maintenance repair, electrical or plumbing problem. (25%) Maintains locks and keys and door related apparatus. (5%) Must demonstrate personal accountability for knowledge and application of DOH, Joint Commission and ICRA requirements. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a basic working knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment. Preferred Stationary Engineering training as well as training in plumbing, HVAC, and/or electrical. Certification in Proper Refrigeration Practices Type I and Type II. Prior mechanical experience including burning and welding. Prior Healthcare Experience.
