  • 30/hour depending on experience About Maintenance Free Living Maintenance Free Living (MFL) provides proactive home maintenance and handyman services for busy homeowners who want to protect their homes, prevent costly problems, and spend less time dealing with maintenance.
Our clients trust us to take care of their homes, often before a small problem becomes a major one. We are growing and are looking for a skilled, dependable Home Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Opportunity We're looking for someone who is experienced, capable, and able to work independently . This person will be trusted to receive an assignment, go to the client's home, assess the situation, complete the work properly, and communicate any issues they discover. You should be comfortable working on your own and using your experience and judgment to solve problems. You don't need to know how to do every possible task, but when you encounter something unfamiliar, we expect you to think it through, troubleshoot, research the solution when appropriate, and make a reasonable effort to solve the problem. MFL will train you on our specific systems, standards, and recurring maintenance program, but this is not an entry-level position. What You'll Do Your work will vary from routine preventative maintenance to small handyman and repair projects, including: Perform scheduled home maintenance visits for MFL clients Replace furnace and HVAC filters Clean gutters and perform seasonal exterior maintenance Clean dryer vents Inspect and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Replace light bulbs, batteries, and other routine household items Perform minor plumbing repairs and fixture replacements Complete basic carpentry and woodwork Repair drywall, trim, caulking, doors, cabinets, and hardware Perform minor painting and touch-up work Troubleshoot common household maintenance issues Complete seasonal home-preparation and weatherproofing tasks Perform maintenance and repair punch-list items Identify potential problems and communicate recommended solutions Complete small handyman projects for MFL clients Keep work areas clean and leave each home in excellent condition Document completed work and communicate important findings to the MFL team Interact professionally and courteously with homeowners What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has a background in one or more of the following: Residential construction Remodeling General handyman work Property maintenance Facilities maintenance Carpentry HVAC Plumbing Electrical Mechanical or other skilled trades You should be comfortable using common hand and power tools and have a strong understanding of how homes are built and maintained. We're looking for someone who can show up to a job, understand the assignment, and get the work done without needing constant supervision.
You should be able to:
Work independently Diagnose basic problems and determine a reasonable course of action Troubleshoot unfamiliar issues Use good judgment Follow instructions and complete work correctly Safely operate common hand and power tools Communicate clearly with homeowners and the MFL team Take pride in the quality of your work Keep a clean and organized work area Represent MFL professionally in a client's home Physical Requirements This position involves physical work and requires someone who is comfortable working in a variety of conditions.
You must be able to:
Lift and carry at least 50 pounds Work from ladders safely Work on roofs when necessary and when conditions are appropriate Work in attics, crawl spaces, garages, basements, and other areas of a home Stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work for extended periods Safely use hand and power tools Trust & Professionalism Our technicians are given access to our clients' homes, belongings, and personal spaces, often while the homeowner is away. Because of that, trustworthiness and integrity are just as important as technical ability. We're looking for someone who is: Trustworthy. Dependable. Honest. Professional. Personable. Resourceful. Our clients expect us to treat their homes with the highest level of care and respect. Every MFL team member represents our company and must consistently demonstrate good judgment, professionalism, discretion, and respect for the client's property. A comprehensive pre-employment background screening and employment verification will be required before employment. Training MFL will provide training on our specific maintenance program, processes, documentation, and standards. You should already have a solid foundation of general home maintenance, construction, handyman, or related skills. We're not looking for someone who needs to be taught how to use a drill. We're looking for someone who already knows how to work and can learn the way MFL does things. Schedule We are open to either part-time or full-time employment. The exact schedule will depend on the candidate and MFL's workload. As the company continues to grow, there is significant opportunity for the position to develop into a full-time role with increased responsibility. Compensation $25
  • 30/hour depending on experience and skill level Candidates with strong residential construction, remodeling, handyman, maintenance, or trade experience may qualify toward the top of the range.

Background & Screening Requirements Because our technicians work independently in clients' homes and are entrusted with our clients' property, safety, and privacy, trust and integrity are essential requirements of this position. All candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment background screening and employment verification consistent with MFL's hiring policies and the responsibilities of the position. MFL takes the safety, security, and trust of our clients seriously. Background information will be evaluated in relation to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. A satisfactory background screening is required for employment.
