Machine Technician Maintenance — Madison Mill, Inc. — Ashland City, TN Madison Mill is seeking a Machine Technician to help support the company's growth. For over 60 years, our customers — from big box retailers to other manufacturers to mom-and-pop shops — have trusted us to make their wood products, and we're proud to put exceptional woodwork into people's hands and homes all around the world. Our craftsmen bring joy to craft projects, parades, gardens, kitchen tables, and so much more. Our plant runs a wide variety of specialized machines to produce a huge range of wood products — big and tiny, unfinished and coated, intricate turnings and everyday handles, decorative mouldings, hardwood boards, and much more. The Machine Technician keeps those machines running safely, producing quality parts, and lasting longer. You don't need to know every machine on day one — we'll train you. What matters is that you're mechanically inclined, organized, a fast learner, and take ownership of the work in front of you. What You'll Do Keep the machines in your area running — safely, on time, to spec, and within budget Take on maintenance work requests, sort out what's urgent, and get it handled Install, lubricate, clean, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery Repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues as they come up Test and adjust equipment to hit performance specs Take care of tooling, facilities, and the people around you Run and maintain a preventive maintenance program Keep your workspace organized Help keep processes documented and up to date, and speak up when you see a better way to do something What It's Like to Work Here A team that works together and helps each other solve problems, across departments when needed A genuine focus on safety — speaking up and looking out for each other Room to take on more responsibility as you grow Other duties and special projects as they come up — we're a team, not a silo What We're Looking For Required 2+ years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, industrial, or a related hands-on trade — or equivalent trade/technical school training. We provide additional on-the-job and formal training, so you don't need to check every box already Solid mechanical aptitude — comfortable around hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical (analog and digital) equipment Able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing Comfortable reading a drawing to get to the right sizes, shapes, and dimensions, and confident with a tape measure, calipers, and a stopwatch Willing to learn the company's IT systems and digital processes Holds, or is willing to earn, a forklift operator's license Organized, and able to handle a full shift of active work in a manufacturing environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds A Plus, Not a Requirement Experience with sophisticated woodworking equipment (Locatelli, Timesavers, Weinig, or similar) Formal technical training or certifications The Kind of Person Who Does Well Here Reliable — shows up, follows through, and owns the outcome Pays attention to detail and does things right, not just fast Works well with others and pitches in where needed Stays organized and keeps commitments, even when juggling more than one thing at once Notices unsafe situations and speaks up Wants to keep learning and grow into more responsibility over time Handles a tough day on the floor without losing their cool
