Maintenance Supervisor Job Description The Maintenance Supervisor oversees a team of approximately ten maintenance technicians on second shift and provides hands-on technical support across mechanical and electrical systems. This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and improving production equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, and PLC-controlled machinery, while ensuring routine preventive maintenance is completed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Lead and oversee a team of around ten maintenance technicians on second shift, providing direction and support without formal direct reporting lines. Perform hands-on repairs and changeovers on conveyors, ensuring equipment runs reliably and efficiently. Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic equipment, including identifying issues and implementing corrective actions. Troubleshoot PLCs, particularly Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms, to resolve control and automation issues. Work with sensors, pumps, and switchgear to maintain proper operation of electrical and mechanical systems. Carry out routine scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime. Apply multi-craft skills to perform both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks as needed. Use strong mechanical aptitude to identify mechanical failures and perform repairs or component replacements. Execute electrical troubleshooting to identify faults in wiring, controls, and components and restore equipment to service. Perform maintenance technician duties, including inspections, adjustments, and documentation of work performed. Handle hydraulics and pneumatics systems, including troubleshooting leaks, pressure issues, and component failures. Complete preventive maintenance work orders and enter maintenance activities accurately into the order entry or maintenance tracking system. Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working with industrial machinery, electrical systems, and tools. Collaborate with other departments to schedule maintenance activities that support production needs and minimize disruption. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and recommend maintenance or process improvements. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in an industrial or manufacturing environment. 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience with exposure to production equipment and facility systems. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and change over conveyors and other mechanical systems. Hands-on experience working with hydraulic equipment, including troubleshooting and repairs. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, with experience on Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms. Experience working with sensors, pumps, and switchgear in an industrial setting. Demonstrated multi-craft maintenance capability, comfortable performing both mechanical and electrical work. Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including identifying and resolving issues in control circuits and components. Background as a maintenance technician with exposure to preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems and their maintenance requirements. Experience performing routine scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on industrial equipment. Ability to accurately complete order entry or maintenance documentation related to work performed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with exposure to ink or similar process materials. Comfort working in settings where equipment and surroundings can be dirty at times. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical disciplines. Ability to work independently on second shift while coordinating with peers and other departments. Effective communication skills to provide clear updates on maintenance activities and equipment status. Attention to detail when performing inspections, repairs, and documenting maintenance work. The environment can be dirty at times due to ink cartridges and related materials, requiring comfort working around industrial machinery and production processes. You will use typical maintenance tools and equipment while adhering to safety procedures and practices appropriate for an industrial facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.58 - $38.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
