Job Description

Utilities Plant Maintenance Technician We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair gas-fired boilers, centrifugal air compressors, chillers, and related utility equipment within an automotive manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is a dependable self-starter who is hardworking, highly motivated, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to follow directions, provide timely feedback, and work well as part of a team. We are a highly customer-focused organization. Overtime is required based on business and production needs. Pay will be based initially on experience and adjusted per demonstrated skills and performance.

  • Job Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment within the Central Utility Plant , including: Three gas-fired fire-tube boiler systems 60,000 GPM cooling tower system Ten 1,600-ton Trane centrifugal chillers Nine 1,250 HP IR centrifugal air compressors Three 15,000 SCFM refrigerated air dryers, each rated at 60 tons of refrigeration Associated motors, pumps, valves, piping, and related equipment Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on electrical power supplies, machines, equipment, cables, and wiring.
Safely work with electrical systems commonly operating at 120V, 240V, 480V, and 4,160V . Diagnose malfunctioning equipment and components, including transformers, motors, starters, refrigeration components, and purge units. Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with maintenance engineers and supervisors to identify and resolve equipment issues. Test components for pressure, temperature, resistance, voltage, and other operating characteristics. Disassemble equipment and inspect components for wear, damage, or defects. Repair or replace defective equipment components, including mechanical seals, filters, and coolers. Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance, inspections, and calibrations. Replace faulty refrigeration and electrical components, including relays, switches, motors, and pressure and temperature-sensing devices. Troubleshoot motor controls, PLCs, and variable-speed drives. Troubleshoot and replace electric motors and pumps. Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of three years of industrial maintenance experience preferred. Strong experience using a VOM/multimeter and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Knowledge and experience using power and hand tools. Ability to safely work at heights while using a safety harness. Ability to frequently climb and descend stairs for inspections, routine maintenance, and emergency procedures. Additional Requirements Must be available to work any shift, including weekends and overtime as required . Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Valid driver's license required. Must have a verifiable and stable work history. Must successfully complete required drug screening and background checks , including criminal and employment history. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds . Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be hardworking, dependable, and able to remain focused while paying close attention to detail.
