MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

DOE Schedule:
12-Hour Rotating Shifts 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM OR 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Weekends, holidays & overtime as neededKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with food safety and GMP requirements for facility Participate in plant QA Systems (SQMS Key Element supporter) and HSE systems (Owns one key element) Perform Hermetic Seam Checks for SCM and EVAP (CCP) Ensure that quality issues are reported to management Balance and achieve positive results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Technical Leadership Repair and maintain all processing, filling, and downstream equipment: Can operate and troubleshoot DE palletizers, Case Packers, can and case coders, CASI check weighers, conveyors, Robots, tray formers, case wrappers, pouch case taper, CIP circuits, milk receiving, sugar receiving, oil receiving, chemical unloading, troubleshoot cream loadouts, troubleshoot cut open Maintain 85% production efficiency and 8% unscheduled downtime for assigned shift Diagnosing and resolve issues on programmable controllers, chart recorders and meters through self-directed review of OEM provided materials Troubleshoot, repair and change out 3-phase motors, wiring and controls; read and understand written schematics Assist Utility Mechanic in the repair of Ammonia-based system valve, piping, glycol plate heat exchange, condensers and receivers, industrial steam boilers, associated water supply and steam distribution Safely and effectively use acetylene and propane torch for cutting and brazing Recommend measures to improve equipment performance, product quality, and safety Ensure equipment is free of recognized hazards or that hazards are protected prior to placing equipment back in operation See repairs through to completion and ensure plant has appropriate support to minimize downtime. Production and Efficiency requirements may require extended hours to ensure all repairs are completed accurately and timely Investigate, document, and communicate all trouble calls in your area accurately and timely. Document on M+ work orders Maintain and follow quality aspects: perform seam checks (Evap & SCM), review documentation records, explain CCP's (Evap & SCM), follow seal procedure protocol on chart recorders, comply with reg tag and temporary release programs Complete all assigned Work Orders by due date and complete jobs on the work list Order and check out all parts from eAM inventory system and ensure all parts are accounted for Assist and complete as required on BOS, Shift Indicator, Risk Prediction and Confined Space Entry programs Attend and participate in regularly scheduled informational meetings (i.e. pre-shift meetings) Always keep area clean and maintain a positive work environment that encourages teamwork Assist in training of other maintenance personnel and operators Analyze and report potential machine problems Perform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
Certification(s) in one of the following required: HVAC Welding Electrical Hydraulics and Pneumatics Ability to communicate and take directions effectively and efficiently in the English language, both verbal and written Awareness of Regulatory Standards (FDA, OSHA)- preferred Experience in food manufacturing and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- preferred High School Diploma, Technical degree (tech school or other qualified institution)
- preferred Ability to perform standard math (job-related activities) Computer skills
- ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiently Ability to operate a forklift (certified license is a plus)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods of time Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, ammonia, steam, and high noise levels Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts: 6:00 AM- 6:30 PM and 6:00 PM
