Perform general maintenance and minor repairs in and around campus. Responsible for the general cleanliness and appearance of the entire facility. Initiate work requests to the maintenance department through the principal, on any repairs that are beyond their capability.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or Equivalent preferred Valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Knowledge of routine maintenance and repair procedures Ability to communicate effectively (verbally) Ability to operate hand and power tools Ability to work independently Must be dependable and punctual Must have the ability to properly lift, from floor to shoulder level and carry at least 80 lbs.
Experience:
One year experience in general maintenance preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair. Make continuous checks of the buildings and grounds and keep the principal informed of any deficiencies. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs as needed. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment. Complete repairs as requested on work orders a. Replace or repair plumbing parts b. Urinal Flush-o-meter repair kits c. Vacuum breaker repair kit d. Sloan handle repair kit e. Replace toilet seats f. Replace or repair all restroom faucet g. Repair or replace all toilet tissue, paper towel dispensers, and soap dispensers, if needed h. Repair or replace file lock kits i. Replace exit device lights Replace lights that are out before the ballast goes bad j. Unclog all toilets or notify maintenance if line is clogged l. Move furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc. m. Move, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed. n. Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required. o. Unlock and tie down panic devices on entry door. Install ceiling tiles or replace stained ceiling tiles. p. Turn on hall and restroom lights. q. Check the building for proper heat and air conditioning. r. Notify principal and district maintenance of any malfunctions or illegal entry. s. Put up flags, if this is part of your duty. Sweep or blow leaves and dirt from entrances and walks as needed. Pick-up trash around campus as needed. Perform minor repairs, replace light bulbs, etc. as needed. Remove trash from lunches and commons. Perform odd jobs as needed. Check restrooms for service. Assist with set-ups, commodities, moving or whatever is needed. Perform small jobs requested by faculty and staff. Check elevator and emergency phone in elevator monthly (if you have an elevator on your campus).
Driving:
Operate light truck if necessary.
Safety:
Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the principal immediately. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Other:
Report promptly to the principal any accident or illness of staff or students. Perform all other duties as assigned by principal. Be on call for anything the principal needs. Must be able to maintain a good relationship with school personnel.

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, blower, and garden tools.
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and odors.
Pay:
$16.16 - $24.24 per hour
