Job Description

About the Position Cox Concrete Products is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our team in Mount Pleasant, Texas. This position is responsible for keeping our precast concrete manufacturing facility, production equipment, vehicles, tools, and building systems operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, can diagnose problems, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. At Cox, maintenance is about more than fixing something after it breaks. We expect our maintenance team to identify problems before they become breakdowns, keep equipment properly maintained, and work closely with production to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and preventive maintenance on concrete production equipment, machinery, molds/forms, conveyors, pumps, compressors, motors, hydraulic systems, and other plant equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and equipment-related problems and make repairs as needed. Diagnose equipment failures and determine the root cause rather than simply repairing the immediate problem. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce unexpected equipment downtime and extend equipment life. Maintain and repair electrical systems, motors, controls, switches, sensors, and other electrical components. Read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and mechanical drawings. Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication to repair or modify equipment, tools, molds, fixtures, and structures. Fabricate parts and make modifications when needed to keep equipment operational and improve plant efficiency. Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, and fittings. Maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and general facility systems. Inspect equipment regularly and identify worn, damaged, or potentially failing components. Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance requests. Work closely with production personnel to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize interruptions to production. Coordinate and supervise outside contractors when specialized repairs, installations, or services are required. Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and equipment. Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, parts used, and equipment history through the company's CMMS. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance area. Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements. Assist with equipment installations, plant improvements, and other maintenance-related projects. Perform other duties as assigned to support Cox Concrete Products. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment independently. Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, agricultural, or similar environment. Proficiency with electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot electrical problems safely. Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Welding and fabrication experience. Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting equipment, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to identify problems, determine the cause, and develop practical solutions. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, vendors, and contractors. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs based on safety, production impact, and urgency. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. A strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever is necessary to keep the plant running. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use a CMMS. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. Preferred Qualifications Industrial maintenance experience. Experience in a manufacturing or precast concrete environment. Experience working with concrete batch plants, conveyors, mixers, pumps, compressors, or similar equipment. Electrical troubleshooting experience. Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting experience. Welding and fabrication experience. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems. Experience supervising or coordinating outside contractors. Forklift, skid steer, loader, or other equipment experience. Physical Requirements This is a hands-on industrial maintenance position. The employee must be able to: Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions. Lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment up to 50lbs without assistance. Work around heavy machinery, moving equipment, concrete production operations, dust, noise, and other industrial conditions. Work from ladders, lifts, platforms, and elevated areas when necessary. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Respond to equipment problems throughout the plant.
