Advantage Septic Service is Virginia's leading provider of septic system inspections, maintenance, repairs, design support, and wastewater sampling services. We are seeking motivated individuals ranging from entry-level trainees to experienced Journeyman and Master Alternative Onsite Sewage System (AOSS) Operators. Position Summary The AOSS Operator is responsible for the inspection, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting associated with conventional and alternative onsite wastewater treatment systems. Operators work closely with homeowners, commercial property owners, engineers, regulators, and internal technical staff to ensure systems remain compliant, functional, and perform as designed. Essential Duties Perform inspections of conventional and alternative onsite sewage systems Conduct routine maintenance on treatment units, pumps, controls, and dispersal systems Troubleshoot alarms, equipment failures, and operational issues Field testing and collection of water and wastewater a samples as required Complete field reports, observation records, and compliance documentation Maintain regulatory compliance with Virginia Department of Health (VDH) requirements Communicate findings and recommendations to customers and management Safely operate company vehicles and field equipment Participate in emergency service and on-call rotations as assigned Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively Qualifications Entry-Level Candidates We will train the right candidate.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Mechanical aptitude preferred Ability to lift 50 pounds and traverse uneven terrain Valid Virginia driver's license Good driving record Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Journeyman Operator Candidates Virginia Journeyman Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator License preferred Experience operating and maintaining AOSS systems Ability to work independently Strong knowledge of pumps, controls, treatment units, and dispersal systems Master Operator Candidates Virginia Master Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator License Extensive experience with residential and commercial AOSS facilities Ability to mentor junior operators and trainees Experience with troubleshooting, compliance reporting, and regulatory interactions Preferred Skills Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or wastewater experience Knowledge of septic system construction and repair Experience with pumps, controls, telemetry, and alarm systems Computer and mobile device proficiency Excellent customer service and communication skills Physical Requirements Work outdoors year-round Safely access tanks, pump stations, and treatment components Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment up to 50 pounds Walk finished yards as well as construction sites and undeveloped properties Why Advantage Septic Service?
