Description:
Project Overview This role supports Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and low-voltage infrastructure projects across government, education, healthcare, transportation, commercial, and public-safety environments. Work includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of DAS, fiber, coax, ODAS/IDAS, and wireless communications systems at campuses, hospitals, schools, stadiums, and other large facilities. Responsibilities Perform DAS maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and warranty support for wireless communication systems. Provide day-2 operational support following system turn-up and commissioning. Support maintenance and repair activities for legacy DAS networks and long-term customer systems. Complete RMA (Return Material Authorization) and replacement work as needed. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic and coaxial infrastructure. Conduct fiber testing and diagnostics using tools such as Fluke, AFL, and OTDR equipment. Perform single-mode fiber splicing and fiber scoping activities. Troubleshoot network issues utilizing PIM and sweep testing methodologies. Work independently while supporting customer sites across multiple industries and facility types. Participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 6-8 weeks. Travel to project sites, including overnight travel as required. Required Skills & Experience 2-4 years of hands-on DAS experience including installation, integration, commissioning, maintenance, and day-2 support. Strong troubleshooting and testing experience in DAS environments.
Experience with:
Fiber testing and troubleshooting OTDR, AFL, and Fluke test equipment PIM and sweep testing Single-mode fiber splicing DAS monitoring and maintenance Familiarity with DAS platforms from manufacturers such as JMA, Corning, Comba, and CommScope. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Customer-facing communication skills. Preferred Qualities Dependable and self-motivated. Strong sense of accountability and initiative. Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities. Work Environment Monday through Friday schedule, generally 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with hours varying based on project needs. 40-hour work week with opportunities for overtime. Work is performed in commercial buildings, hospitals, educational facilities, stadiums, government sites, and public-safety environments. Frequent ladder work and field-based responsibilities. Travel, including overnight stays, may be required for project support. Participation in an on-call rotation every 6-8 weeks. Top Skills DAS installation, integration, maintenance, and day-2 support experience. Independent work ethic with strong accountability and initiative. Advanced troubleshooting and testing experience using fiber testing equipment, OTDR, AFL, Fluke, PIM, and sweep testing tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
