Job Description

Hotel Maintenance Engineer La Quinta Inn & Suites Winchester | Winchester, VA Full-Time | Hawkeye Hotels About the Opportunity Hawkeye Hotels is seeking a dependable, hands-on Hotel Maintenance Engineer to join the team at La Quinta Inn & Suites Winchester . A well-maintained hotel is one of the foundations of a great guest experience. We're looking for someone who takes pride in keeping things working, notices problems before our guests do, and understands that even the small details matter. From keeping guestrooms comfortable and operational to completing preventative maintenance and responding quickly when something goes wrong, this position plays an important role in the daily success of our hotel.
Our goal is simple:
find it, fix it, and take care of it before it becomes a guest problem.
What You'll Do Guestroom Maintenance:
Diagnose and complete repairs involving
HVAC/PTAC
units, plumbing, lighting, electrical fixtures, toilets, sinks, showers, doors, locks, furniture, and other guestroom equipment.
Preventative Maintenance:
Complete scheduled preventative maintenance thoroughly and on time, documenting work and identifying deficiencies that require follow-up.
Out-of-Order Rooms:
Prioritize repairs that impact room availability and work closely with hotel leadership and Housekeeping to return rooms to service as quickly as possible.
Guest Requests:
Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance concerns while minimizing disruption to the guest experience.
Hotel Inspections:
Regularly walk guestrooms, public areas, mechanical spaces, exterior areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify maintenance needs before they become larger problems.
General Repairs:
Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, caulking, furniture, fixture, and equipment repairs.
HVAC:
Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on guestroom and hotel HVAC equipment within your level of training and experience.
Property Appearance:
Help maintain the interior and exterior condition of the hotel, including walls, doors, fixtures, lighting, landscaping-related equipment, and other physical assets.
Life Safety:
Assist hotel leadership in maintaining fire and life-safety equipment, required inspections, logs, and compliance standards.
Parts & Supplies:
Maintain an organized inventory of commonly used maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and outstanding maintenance needs.
Teamwork:
Partner closely with Front Desk and Housekeeping so maintenance issues are clearly communicated, prioritized, and resolved. What We're Looking For Previous hotel maintenance, building maintenance, facilities, apartment maintenance, or similar hands-on maintenance experience preferred. Hotel maintenance experience is a plus, but we will consider candidates with strong transferable maintenance skills. Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs. Experience troubleshooting
PTAC/HVAC
equipment is strongly preferred. Ability to identify problems, determine appropriate next steps, and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept property. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple maintenance requests. Dependable and able to work independently without requiring constant supervision. Comfortable interacting professionally with guests and hotel associates. Ability to safely use common hand and power tools. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and lifting as required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and responding to urgent hotel maintenance needs when necessary. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool, or other relevant certifications are a plus, but are not required . What Success Looks Like Success isn't just responding quickly when something breaks. It's creating an operation where we're finding problems before the guest does.
That means:
Preventative maintenance is completed consistently and correctly. Guestroom deficiencies are identified and repaired. Out-of-order rooms don't sit unnecessarily. Repeat maintenance issues are investigated instead of continually patched. Maintenance requests are communicated and closed out. The hotel is safe, clean, and well cared for. Front Desk and Housekeeping know they can depend on Maintenance when an issue arises. The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who walks past a loose door handle and tightens it instead of walking past it again tomorrow. Someone who notices the dripping faucet, burned-out light, damaged caulking, noisy PTAC, or stained ceiling tile before a guest has to tell us about it. You don't have to know how to repair everything. Knowing when a repair requires a specialized contractor is part of being a good maintenance professional. What matters is having the ownership, curiosity, urgency, and pride to make sure the problem gets addressed.
