We value a solid foundation and a willingness to grow. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs, support field equipment readiness, and contribute to a safe, productive shop environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance and repairs on shop and field equipment, including welding machines, fabrication machinery, and vehicles. Inspect and prepare tools and equipment for field deployment, ensuring items meet safety and performance standards. Coordinate with and support outside contractors performing repairs, helping to ensure work quality and safety compliance. Operate forklifts and a range of shop tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Follow and enforce all plant procedures, with particular emphasis on lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols and equipment shutdown procedures. Identify and promptly report safety hazards, violations, or equipment concerns to supervisors. Maintain organized, accurate inventory records for all field tools and equipment.Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Hands-on mechanical experience required; familiarity with industrial equipment, fabrication machinery, or machine shop tools preferred. Comfortable with hand tools and power tools; exposure to welding or fabrication equipment is a plus. Able to read and interpret instrumentation, gauges, and measuring devices. Working knowledge of basic electrical safety; exposure to 110V and 480V systems preferred. Forklift certification preferred; must be willing and able to obtain certification upon hire. Professional Dependable and safety-conscious with a genuine interest in growing mechanical and technical skills. Good verbal and written communication skills; able to document work, follow instructions, and ask questions when needed. Team-oriented with the ability to work alongside senior technicians and take constructive direction. Able to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in a busy, fast-paced shop environment. Working Conditions Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 60-90 lbs to a height of 3 feet, and perform prolonged standing, bending, and reaching in an active shop environment. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) — including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and gloves — at all times while on the shop floor. Work is performed in a busy steel fabrication shop with regular exposure to loud noise, heat, fumes, and heavy equipment. Outdoor field work may be required on occasion. Alpha Iron classifies this job as safety sensitive, where working under the influence of drugs or alcohol increases risk of injury to self or others.
