Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Perform all maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, installation, and facility work in a safe manner and in accordance with established safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, safe work practices, equipment-specific requirements, and applicable Company policies. Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor, and automated systems. Diagnose equipment problems using observation, operating conditions, testing instruments, schematics, technical documentation, and other diagnostic methods; identify root causes and implement effective repairs. Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, VFD, control system, sensor, wiring, and equipment integration issues. Perform mechanical repairs including disassembly, adjustment, alignment, component replacement, installation, fabrication, and modification of equipment and machinery. Apply knowledge of AC and DC circuits, motor controls, electrical systems, and electrical measurement techniques when troubleshooting or performing repairs. Provide low-voltage electrical support for equipment installations, facility renovations, maintenance work orders, and other plant needs within applicable qualifications and safety requirements. Perform facility and general building maintenance throughout the plant, including building systems, fixtures, doors and hardware, lighting, plumbing, electrical components, basic carpentry, mounting, and other facility-related repairs. Inspect and maintain building and facility systems to identify needed repairs, safety concerns, deterioration, or potential failures before they disrupt operations. Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of facility systems and plant utilities, including compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and other supporting systems within the employee's training and qualifications. Perform routine inspections and preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment, automation systems, machinery, and facility systems to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Remove and replace defective parts using forklifts, hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as appropriate; verify specifications using measurement and inspection tools. Respond to equipment breakdowns, facility issues, and other maintenance needs in a timely manner, prioritizing work based on safety, production impact, urgency, and operational needs. Read and interpret machine blueprints, building construction plans, P&ID diagrams, and electrical, pneumatic, gas, vacuum, and high-pressure piping schematics. Support machine changeovers, equipment upgrades, modifications, installations and relocations, calibrations, and process improvements. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to other maintenance employees in mechanical, electrical, automation, troubleshooting, and facility maintenance work. Collaborate with production employees, managers, vendors, contractors, and other departments to resolve equipment and facility issues and support operational improvements. Follow established SOPs, maintenance procedures, and validation requirements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, inspections, modifications, parts used, and ongoing maintenance needs. Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating completed work, equipment conditions, irregularities, and unresolved issues. Answer questions and respond to requests for mechanical, electrical, automation, and facility maintenance support in a clear and timely manner. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Follow established safety procedures and safe work practices to maintain a safe working environment. Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with Company policies, practices, and core values. Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to communicate effectively and to discern warning or emergency alarms Sufficient vision to review and read documents, reports, signage, and computer screens/monitors, and to observe equipment operation. Sufficient manual dexterity and hand/wrist/arm movements to use a keyboard and safely use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Ability to regularly lift at least 20 lbs. above shoulder height and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor to waist height; Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs. Ability to stand stationary for 1 hour continuously and up to 6.75 hours cumulatively per shift. Ability to sit for up to one half hour continuously. Ability to walk up to 2.50 hours cumulatively per shift. Sufficient body flexibility and balance to bend, twist, squat and crouch frequently; ability to bend and twist at the head, neck and waist. WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical working conditions are exposed to moderate noise but at times may be exposed to loud and excessive noise Production areas of the facility may include variations in temperature, humidity, odor, dust, fumes, and debris. May be required to work at heights of up to 40 feet Local travel may be required; additional travel outside the area for training purposes may also be required.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE OF
Industrial maintenance in a manufacturing setting including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems. Mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, alignment, installation, and replacement of industrial equipment components. PLC programming and troubleshooting, HMI systems, VFD operation, motor controls, sensors, controls, and automation system integration. Electrical systems, circuits, wiring diagrams, electrical measurement techniques, and electrical safety practices. Preventive and predictive maintenance practices and equipment reliability principles. General facility and building maintenance, including basic plumbing, lighting, doors, fixtures, electrical components, utilities, and related repairs. Plant utility systems, including compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, and plumbing. Technical manuals, equipment schematics, blueprints, building plans, P&ID diagrams, electrical drawings, pneumatic schematics, and related technical documentation. Applicable safety regulations and requirements, including OSHA standards, lockout/tagout practices, plant safety policies, and safe work procedures.
SKILL AND ABILITY TO
Perform a broad range of hands-on maintenance work involving production equipment, mechanical systems, automation systems, and facility repairs. Move effectively between advanced automation troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment installations, and general facility maintenance based on operational needs. Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot the root cause of equipment, controls, mechanical, electrical, and facility-related problems and resolve issues efficiently. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Technical certification, apprenticeship, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical, automation, mechatronics, mechanical technology, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated PLC and industrial automation troubleshooting experience required. Five or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, including hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance responsibilities. Experience in packaging, printing, or similar manufacturing environments preferred. Experience performing both production equipment maintenance and general facility maintenance preferred. The Senior Maintenance/Automation Technician is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and reliable operation of production equipment, automation systems, and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on maintenance position that requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, along with advanced knowledge of PLCs, controls, and automation. While this position serves as a technical resource for automation and complex equipment issues, the role is not limited to PLC or controls work. The Senior Maintenance/Automation Technician regularly performs mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment installations, and general facility maintenance and repairs throughout the plant. This position also provides technical guidance and mentorship to other maintenance staff and supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, and support safe and efficient plant operations. This position reports directly to the Facility and Maintenance Manager.
