Regional Maintenance Technician (RMT)

Full-Time Position Summary The Regional Maintenance Technician (RMT) serves as the regional technical leader and primary maintenance resource for multiple facilities. This position provides hands-on technical support, leads and develops Site Maintenance Technicians (SMTs), coordinates vendors, supports staffing and onboarding, and ensures maintenance programs are executed safely, efficiently, and consistently. The RMT is responsible for diagnosing complex equipment and facility issues, managing preventive maintenance, maintaining work-order accuracy, supporting material handling equipment, and coordinating maintenance activities across assigned locations. This role requires a strong multi-trade maintenance background, excellent troubleshooting skills, leadership capability, and the ability to work independently across multiple facilities. Key ResponsibilitiesRegional Maintenance Leadership Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support to Site Maintenance Technicians across assigned facilities. Review maintenance priorities, schedules, workload, attendance, and work completion. Assign and prioritize work based on operational needs, urgency, safety, and technician capabilities. Provide coaching, training, and technical guidance to maintenance personnel. Support technician hiring, onboarding, training, and competency development. Provide temporary maintenance coverage when a site has an open technician position. Escalate significant safety, compliance, operational, financial, legal, or capital issues. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, MHE, dock, and building-system failures. Identify root causes and develop effective repair plans. Perform authorized repairs and provide hands-on technical support when required. Troubleshoot forklifts, material handling equipment, batteries, chargers, dock equipment, and warehouse machinery. Determine when specialized contractors or vendors are required. Document repairs, findings, root causes, and corrective actions. Preventive Maintenance & Work Orders Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed within required timeframes. Audit PM work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective work orders. Review open, closed, repeat, and aging work orders. Ensure work orders contain accurate labor, parts, purchases, asset information, failure details, comments, and completion notes. Maintain accurate equipment and asset records. Monitor critical work orders and ensure each has an owner, status, next action, and expected completion date. Vendor & Contractor Management Develop scopes of work for maintenance contractors and service providers. Obtain and compare quotes when required. Coordinate vendor scheduling and site access. Verify completed work meets the approved scope and quality requirements. Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective action. Review invoices for accuracy and alignment with approved work. Manage routine vendor expenses within established authorization limits. Escalate projects or services exceeding delegated authority. Safety & Compliance Follow and enforce applicable safety, food safety, environmental, and company requirements. Identify and report hazards, incidents, near misses, and property damage. Complete required near-miss documentation. Ensure corrective actions are completed within established deadlines. Promote safe work practices and proper use of tools and PPE. Regional Support & Readiness Maintain appropriate regional tools, parts, equipment, and supplies. Track recurring parts and establish appropriate inventory levels. Identify opportunities to complete repairs internally rather than outsourcing. Participate in rotating after-hours and weekend support. Respond to maintenance calls, perform initial troubleshooting, coordinate resources, and document after-hours events. Travel between assigned facilities, including occasional overnight stays. Communication & Administration Participate in regular maintenance meetings and regional operational reviews. Maintain accurate schedules and calendars. Respond to maintenance-related communications within established timeframes. Complete required reports, documentation, coaching records, and administrative activities. Communicate technical findings, maintenance status, risks, priorities, and corrective actions clearly and professionally. Required Qualifications Minimum five years of experience in multi-trade industrial, warehouse, facility, MHE, or related maintenance. Strong hands-on experience with several of the following: Electrical Mechanical Plumbing HVAC Dock equipment Forklifts and MHE Batteries and chargers Warehouse equipment Building systems Proven troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, equipment documentation, and manufacturer requirements. Ability to prioritize maintenance activities across multiple facilities. Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical direction to maintenance personnel. Ability to manage vendors, scopes of work, quotes, service completion, and invoices. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel throughout the assigned region and stay overnight when required. Ability to participate in rotating after-hours and weekend support. Preferred Qualifications Trade license or technical certification. Forklift or MHE certification. OSHA or other safety certifications. Refrigeration experience. Experience working in refrigerated or temperature-controlled facilities. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), particularly eMaint. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and related business systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, twist, lift, and carry materials throughout warehouse and facility environments. Ability to safely access roofs, mechanical rooms, docks, warehouse equipment, and other maintenance areas. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in refrigerated, warehouse, mechanical, outdoor, and varying environmental conditions. Ability to safely operate required tools and equipment and use appropriate PPE.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
