Job Description
Cable Technician Contractor This is a job with unlimited pay cap only limited by your own performance. You will be required to install and maintain internet, television and telephone services for a local ISP that we contract for. You will be considered as a 1099 contractor and will be required to provide your own vehicle capable of carrying an 28ft extension ladder, as well as any and all tools associated with the job. Pay is equal for all no matter how much experience you have. Job Requirements This job will require you to to many things that an average person might find uncomfortable. From climbing service poles to crawling in a crawl space. The broadband technician is expected to go where the customer is not capable or not willing. To provide proper service we are responsible for everything from the source to the customer equipment. As much as this is a trade job where you will work in the rain and the sun, you will be a customer service representative who goes into customers houses to solve their problems and they could be upset. You will be expected to professionally solve their issues and attempt to be a pleasant face of the company. Technicians will need to maintain a level of health. You are expected and required to be able to stand for up to 12 hours a day as well as lift up to 80lbs safely and be able to move it some distance. You are considered a 1099 contactor who has to provide your own tools and vehicle. We compensate at a rate that factors your millage and gas, and as a independent business owner your millage is tax deductible. We expect that you have a clean vehicle that can carry the 28ft extension ladder as well as all other tools needed for the trade. We provide all small parts like cable, as well as the equipment. However you will need to provide the tools. This includes hand and power. You will need a low voltage tools set available online rather cheap, as well as a hammer drill. Tools can be provided at cost. Job Summary As a cable technician you will wake up and activate on your mobile smart device. You will already have a days worth of work assigned to you that is categorized into time frames set by the customer 8am-5pm. You are expected to make these appointments on time to accommodate the customer. You will complete each job to the best of your ability and contact leadership when needed. You will install modems mostly but occasionally cable boxes and very rarely telephone equipment. You will help customers connect their devices. Duties On days that tech is scheduled to work they will be active by 6:45am They will start the day with the tools required to complete each job or they will stop by the warehouse located in Springdale Techs will travel to each job and verify service from the tap which is some times a box in the ground and could be ~25ft up in the air on a pole. Verify cable integrity from tap to CPE using provided test equipment Install CPE which is modems and cable boxes. Assist customer with connecting certain devices such as cell phones, iPads and TVs. As well as sound bars. Tech must maintain an inventory of company equipment that they are finically responsible for.
