Cedar Rapids, IA Core Responsibilities Execute cable pulling and jack termination tasks Perform installation, termination, and testing for structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optics, and coax to ensure high-quality connectivity Construct and organize MDF and IDF rooms, focusing on the setup of racks, patch panels, cable management, and network equipment to support infrastructure efficiency The extent of your daily oversight and project responsibilities will be tailored to match your specific skill set. Qualifications Comfortable operating power tools and working from ladders Ability to lift, transport, and position equipment or ladders weighing up to 50 lbs Possession of your own essential low voltage hand tools, such as strippers, snips, wrenches, and screwdrivers Flexibility to handle overtime, work second or third shifts, and perform effectively in high-pressure environments Successful completion of a physical exam, drug screening, and a 7-year background check Possession of a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and dependable personal transportation Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Prior background in commercial construction is considered an asset Professional Tiers Tech 1: Entry-level role with no previous experience in the low voltage field necessary. Tech 2: Requires at least one year of commercial installation experience; capable of pulling cable, terminating jacks, and managing 90-degree turns with minimal guidance, while assisting in MDF/IDF closet builds. Tech 3: Requires two or more years of commercial installation experience; fully proficient in pulling cable, terminating jacks, performing 90-degree turns, testing all cable types, and independently managing the construction of MDF/IDF closets.
