Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of telecommunications and networking systems. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of communication infrastructure for our clients. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems including fiber optic cabling, Ethernet networks, and structured cabling installations such as Cat5 and Cat6 cables. Perform fiber splicing and testing to ensure high-quality signal transmission across various systems. Use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, telecommunications testing equipment, and RF testers to identify issues and verify system integrity. Conduct equipment repairs and maintenance on Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya telephony systems, and other communication hardware. Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to accurately install and troubleshoot complex wiring layouts and network configurations. Assist with low-voltage electrical wiring, power tools operation, and electrical system troubleshooting (AC/DC). Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, issues, and solutions while ensuring minimal disruption during installations or repairs. Experience Proven experience as a service technician or in telecommunications installation with a strong background in cable termination, network wiring, and equipment troubleshooting. Hands-on knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), Ethernet protocols, and telecommunication systems. Familiarity with fiber optic systems installation, fiber splicing techniques, and related testing procedures. Experience working with structured cabling standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code) guidelines for low-voltage wiring. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters, cable testers, RF testers, and other telecommunications testing equipment. Ability to read technical schematics and diagrams accurately; experience with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems is preferred. Strong customer service skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments. Knowledge of IT infrastructure including computer hardware setup, network installation, data center environments, and low-voltage electrical wiring is highly desirable.
