Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team and deliver exceptional telecommunications and networking solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage systems across various sites, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless communication networks, security systems, and data infrastructure for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that challenge your technical skills and expand your knowledge in the field of low voltage systems. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage systems including CCTV, VoIP telephony, Ethernet networks, fiber optic cabling, and security systems. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs. Perform fiber splicing, cable pulling (Cat5, Cat6), and terminations in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Conduct network installation tasks such as configuring Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and Avaya telephony systems. Use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other testing devices to diagnose issues and ensure proper system operation. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including service reports, system configurations, and inspection logs. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, maintenance needs, and troubleshooting steps. Experience Proven service technician experience working with low voltage systems in commercial or data center environments. Strong background in computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and network hardware setup. Hands-on experience with CCTV installation and maintenance as well as fiber splicing techniques. Familiarity with telecommunication systems such as VoIP, telephony (including Avaya), and power over Ethernet (PoE). Knowledge of electrical codes (NEC) related to low voltage wiring and cabling practices. Ability to use testing equipment like ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical issues effectively. Experience working with IT infrastructure components such as Cisco routers, Juniper switches, and data center hardware is highly desirable.
