Job Description

TechMedic GVL is seeking a dependable part-time Network Cabling / Low-Voltage Technician to support residential and small-business network installation projects. This position focuses on physical network infrastructure and is separate from the Level 2 IT Support role. Primary Duties
  • Run Cat5e/Cat6 network cable for residential and small-business projects.
  • Complete pre-drywall cable runs for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Complete post-drywall cable runs in existing homes and businesses where appropriate.
  • Run cable from planned wireless access-point locations back to a central network or IT closet.
  • Terminate Ethernet cable, jacks, keystones, wall plates, and patch-panel connections.
  • Test, verify, label, and document completed cable runs.
  • Assist with mounting and physical installation of wireless access points and related network equipment.
  • Work carefully in attics, crawlspaces, ceilings, and other appropriate installation areas when required.
  • Help identify materials, labor needs, and project issues before or during installation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work area and protect customer property. Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous network cabling, low-voltage, construction, or related installation experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Ethernet cabling and proper termination/testing practices.
  • Comfort using common hand tools and cabling tools.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional with customers.
  • Ability to follow project instructions and communicate issues promptly.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; insurable driving record may be required if operating a company vehicle.
