Job Description
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and equipment to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on company trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Accurately document all repairs, services, and parts used.
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to emergency roadside service calls when necessary.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist with ordering and inventory of parts and supplies.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Follows and ensures adherence to established Hilltop Ranch, Inc. local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
- Establishes and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.
- Ability to follow, comply and enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic (trucks or heavy equipment).
- Able to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and repair procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair orders.
- Knowledge diesel after treatment system.
- Proficient with diagnostic software and tools.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to follow and comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to pass a physical and drug test
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) is helpful
- Ability to work with groups-team oriented personality
- Organizational skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Will occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell. Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously. Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently. Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 60 pounds frequently. Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 60 pounds. Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hours/throughout the shift. Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May work near moving mechanical parts.
- May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.
