We perform scheduled and unscheduled servicing and repairs on our company owned tractors, trailers, and other power driven equipment.
Schedule:
2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend day shifts available. The Job:
Fleet Mechanic I This is the entry level class in the Fleet Mechanic series, distinguished from Fleet Mechanic II by more routine tasks and duties. Employees at this level work with more direct supervision and are not expected to exercise the same independent judgment on established procedures as those at the II level. Because this is typically a training class, employees may have limited or non directly related work experience. You will work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, including: Methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair Various mechanical systems of gasoline and diesel engines Various electrical systems of gasoline and diesel engines Standard practices, equipment, and tools of the Class 8 mechanical trade Principles and practices of gasoline and diesel engine repair and maintenance Methods and techniques of welding and fabrication Operating and repair characteristics of hydraulic systems Basic principles of record keeping and shop mathematics Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures Requirements Two years of responsible vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair experience in a Class 8 semi truck and trailer shop Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade Possession of a valid driver's license
Ability To:
Perform a variety of duties in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing vehicles, equipment, and components Inspect Class 8 equipment to locate mechanical defects and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems, then determine corrective procedures Perform a variety of welding work Estimate the time and materials needed for work Maintain a variety of shop and repair records and logs Use various hand and power-driven shop tools Prepare and maintain clear, accurate reports Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
