```Job Overview``` We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and tank trailers. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge and excellent problem-solving skills. Island Transportation is a Union Environment with great Benefits and Paid Time off. Qualified mechanics are paid $34.00 HR and can receive and additional $1.50 if certified Air Brakes. > Must have Own Tools > Prior Diesel experience preferred but not required ```Responsibilities```
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and vehicles
  • Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines to identify any potential problems or malfunctions
  • Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose engine issues
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as fuel injectors, alternators, and starters
  • Perform air brake system repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed ```Skills``` To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostics and repair techniques
  • Proficiency in soldering and welding
  • Experience with air brake systems
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or service technician is preferred
