Job Description
Mancan is currently looking for a Diesel Mechanic for a client in Alva, FL.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with preventive maintenance programs, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on diesel engines and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and inspections.
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering systems, and other components.
- Use diagnostic tools and computerized equipment to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts inventories.
- Test-drive vehicles and equipment to verify repairs and proper operation.
- Follow company safety policies and maintain a clean work environment.
- Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status to supervisors and customers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Previous experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or related role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
- Experience using diagnostic software and repair tools.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
- ASE Certification or equivalent certifications are a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environmental conditions.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or fleet maintenance.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and inspection requirements.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
