Position Summary The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles, heavy equipment, and facility machinery. This role is critical to keeping our operation running safely, efficiently, and profitably. Essential Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems. Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and other fleet equipment. Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Identify necessary replacement parts and tools needed to complete repairs. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed. Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and shop paperwork accurately. Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards. Operate light and heavy equipment safely. Assist with maintaining equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Participate in on-call rotations and occasional weekend work. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Preferred 5+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience. Equipment Mechanic Certification or equivalent technical training. Experience working in scrap, recycling, construction, agricultural, or industrial environments. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in various weather conditions. Comfortable working around heavy machinery, moving equipment, and industrial environments. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
