West Truck Sales is a premier (non-corporate) semi-truck dealership. Operating service, sales, and parts at the highest levels within the industry. West Truck Sales started in Mankato, MN and has expanded to Waterloo, IA. West Truck Sales is growing extensively in the new location and this position will be based in Waterloo. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. - Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and electrical systems
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Follow safety procedures and company policies
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a diesel technician or mechanic
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and related systems
- Ability to read and interpret diagnostic data and repair manuals
- Own basic hand tools (shop tools provided)
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required)
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment while following all safety protocols
- Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy
- Conduct thorough diagnostics using diagnostic tools and schematics
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension systems, and other heavy equipment components
- Perform routine and detailed inspections on trucks and equipment
- Use proper tools and procedures to complete repairs correctly and safely
- Engine overhaul experience on CAT, Cummins, and Detroit engines is a plus, but not required
Physical & Technical Requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Must have adequate personal hand tools to perform daily duties
