Waste Connections is hiring a Heavy Diesel Fleet Mechanic to keep our refuse and recycling trucks safe, reliable, and road-ready. In this role, you'll perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy diesel vehicles, including hydraulic, electrical, and braking systems. You'll handle preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and emergency repairs while working in a safety-first, team-oriented shop. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy diesel trucks and waste collection equipment Perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and safety checks on fleet vehicles Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, braking, and engine systems Maintain accurate repair records and follow company and regulatory standards Collaborate with operations to minimize downtime and prioritize repairs Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify and resolve mechanical issues Order and track parts, ensuring proper inventory and cost control Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized shop Support on-call or emergency repairs as needed to keep routes running Required Skills Heavy diesel engine repair Hydraulic system diagnostics and repair Electrical system troubleshooting Brake and suspension repair Preventive maintenance (PM) programs DOT and safety inspections Use of diagnostic software and tools Welding and fabrication basics Reading technical manuals and schematics Maintenance recordkeeping and documentation
