Kansas City, Kansas Prestige Transportation and Overland Chauffeured Services are looking for an experienced part-time fleet mechanic to join our growing transportation company. This is not an entry-level or apprentice position. We are seeking someone with solid, hands-on automotive or diesel repair experience who can perform preventive maintenance, diagnose problems, and complete repairs safely and correctly. About the Position You will work alongside our experienced, full-time certified mechanic to maintain a diverse fleet of more than 50 passenger vehicles.

Lincoln and Cadillac executive sedans Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Cadillac Escalade SUVs Ford Transit passenger vans Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans Gasoline and diesel minibuses Activity buses 56-passenger diesel motor coaches Specialty passenger vehicles The exact responsibilities assigned will depend on the mechanic's experience. A candidate with strong automotive experience may primarily work on sedans, SUVs, vans, inspections, and preventive maintenance. Candidates with diesel, air-brake, or heavy-duty experience may also work on minibuses and motor coaches. Primary Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled fleet services Complete oil changes, filter replacements, fluid services, and lubrication Inspect and repair brakes, steering, suspension, tires, batteries, and charging systems Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability problems Troubleshoot warning lights and fault codes using diagnostic equipment Repair or replace defective vehicle components Inspect vehicles for safety concerns and developing maintenance problems Assist with DOT-related vehicle inspections and repairs Respond to chauffeur-reported maintenance concerns Complete repair orders and accurately document all work performed Communicate needed repairs, parts requirements, and vehicle status Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility Assist with occasional vehicle breakdowns or urgent repairs Work collaboratively with our full-time certified mechanic and operations team Required Qualifications At least three years of professional automotive, diesel, fleet, or heavy-equipment repair experience Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Experience performing preventive maintenance and general repairs Working knowledge of brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and cooling systems Ability to work independently after receiving an assignment Ability to accurately document completed work Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening Ability to safely lift and move parts, tools, tires, and equipment Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work underneath vehicles Dependable attendance and strong time-management skills Preferred Qualifications ASE certification Diesel engine repair experience Experience maintaining commercial passenger vehicles Experience with minibuses, motor coaches, school buses, transit buses, or commercial trucks Air-brake inspection and repair experience Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA vehicle requirements Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment Electrical diagnostic experience HVAC repair experience Welding or fabrication experience CDL Class A or Class B license DOT annual-inspector or brake-inspector qualification Schedule This position is expected to average approximately 20-30 hours per week. We are open to discussing a consistent schedule that works for both the employee and the company.

Possible schedules may include:

Two or three full days per week Several shorter weekday shifts Evening or weekend hours Additional hours during periods of increased maintenance demand Some flexibility may be required when a vehicle needs an urgent repair or must be returned to service quickly.
