Job Description
Diesel Mechanic
The night shift allows mechanics to work on vehicles while they are not in service, minimizing downtime for our towing operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated mechanic who prefers evening hours and enjoys a mix of diesel and general vehicle work.
Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain Cummins 6.7 diesel engines and Allison transmissions in medium-duty tow trucks. Perform repairs and maintenance on light-duty vehicles (sedans, vans, and pickup trucks). Repair and install lights, wiring, and electrical components. Grease beds, perform undercarriage maintenance, and keep trucks road-ready. Install accessories such as tool boxes, visors, reflective gear, trash cans, and other equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently. Conduct preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and document all work performed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
What We Offer Competitive hourly wage: $25 - $35 per hour (higher pay for candidates with tools and Cummins Insight). Full-time night shift position (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM). Shift:
Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (occasional flexibility may be required).Requirements & Skills Strong hands-on experience with Cummins 6.7 engines and Allison transmissions (medium-duty or tow truck experience preferred). Versatile skills working on both medium-duty diesel and light-duty gasoline/diesel vehicles. Proficient in engine repair, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics. Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic equipment. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus). Preferred (but not required): Own set of hand and power tools. Laptop with Cummins Insight software (or similar diagnostic programs).
