Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment, including rear load, side and front load garbage trucks, and vehicle fleets. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our ongoing projects and operations. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension, and other critical components using schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Conduct repairs and maintenance on garbage trucks Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and fabrication skills to repair or modify equipment as needed. Troubleshoot issues related to heavy equipment operation and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Inspect vehicles and machinery for safety compliance; perform brake repairs, tire services, HVAC repairs, and electrical diagnostics. Maintain detailed service records including shift reports, incident logs, repair histories, and maintenance schedules. Assist with heavy lifting tasks and support the assembly or disassembly of machinery components during repairs or upgrades. Skills Proven experience with heavy equipment servicing is highly preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems and schematics. Expertise in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of customizing or repairing parts as required. Skilled in using diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics and electrical diagnostics to identify issues accurately. Experience working with OEM parts and understanding of power tools for efficient equipment maintenance. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
