Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Refuse Collector to join our team. The Refuse Collector plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in our community by collecting waste and recyclables from residential and commercial areas. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to operate various types of refuse collection vehicles. Duties Operate refuse collection vehicles, including rear load and Automated side load trucks, ensuring safe and efficient collection of waste materials. Perform manual lifting of heavy waste containers and materials, adhering to safety protocols to prevent injury. Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs. Collaborate with team members to efficiently collect refuse from designated routes while maintaining a high standard of service. Educate residents on proper waste disposal practices and recycling guidelines during collection. Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure all collected refuse is properly secured for transport. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driving experience is preferred. Experience operating heavy-duty vehicles such as flatbeds, dump trucks, or refuse collection trucks is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot basic vehicle issues as they arise. Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks consistently throughout the shift. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and the public. Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is a plus.
