Diesel Mechanic NextWave Resources - 5.0 Wayne, MI Job Details Full-time $30 - $40 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Diesel engine system repair Vehicle inspections Vehicle suspension component diagnostics Diesel mechanics Vehicle emissions checks High school diploma or GED Emission control systems Diesel truck repair Powertrain Vehicle steering system repair Diesel engine brake system servicing Full Job Description Preventative Maintenance Mechanic - Wayne MI $30-40 an hour Job Purpose In your role as a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components. Duties and Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment Performs engine repair and maintenance Performs welding and fabrication Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools Performs electrical repairs Assists with DOT inspections Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner Troubleshoots emissions issues Actively problem solves Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records Qualifications The successful candidate profile includes: Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required Understands work orders and labor time standards Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
